Questions From Our Customers
What exactly does “WiFi 6” bring, and how will this device benefit me?
For this FENVI AX1500 device in particular, you’ll see benefits such as:
Dual-band 2.4GHz + 5GHz support, enabling more flexible use in your home.
The ability to serve more devices simultaneously (thanks to technologies like OFDMA and MU-MIMO) — important if you have multiple smart devices, streaming, gaming, etc.
Better range and reliability (especially on the 2.4GHz band) and more efficient use of the wireless spectrum.
Will I get the full “1500 Mbps” speed as advertised with this AX1500 model?
- The “1500 Mbps” label (AX1500) is a theoretical maximum combining both bands (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz). It does not guarantee your device will always reach that speed in real-world usage. For example, listings show speeds up to ~300 Mbps on 2.4GHz + ~1201 Mbps on 5GHz.
Real world factors affect speed: router location, interference (walls, other networks), distance to the router, the WiFi standard your client device uses, and your actual internet plan speed. For example, someone reported only ~150-180 Mbps on 5GHz even though the router claimed much more.
So: Yes, you could approach high speeds if conditions are ideal (strong signal, WiFi 6 capable client device, good internet plan). But set expectations: you may see lower speeds, and that doesn’t mean the router is faulty.
Is it compatible with my older devices (WiFi 5, WiFi 4, etc.)?
- Yes — WiFi 6 devices are backward compatible with older WiFi standards (such as 802.11ac / WiFi 5, 802.11n / WiFi 4). So your older laptop, smartphone, etc. should be able to connect.
However: to benefit from the full features of WiFi 6 (higher speeds, improved latency, multi-device handling) you’ll also need client devices that support WiFi 6. If your laptop is WiFi 5 only, you'll see some benefit (improved network for everyone) but not the full theoretical top speeds.
Also make sure your router/modem connection from your ISP is fast enough — if you only have say a 100 Mbps internet plan, then the gains of WiFi 6 may be less dramatic.
What are some things I should check before buying/installing to make sure I see the benefit?
Internet plan speed: If your internet connection (via your ISP) is slow (e.g., <200 Mbps), upgrading to WiFi 6 might not change latency much, though you may still see improved internal network performance.
Placement & environment: Ensure the router or extender is placed in a relatively open area, not obstructed by thick walls/metal etc. The 5GHz band offers higher speeds but less penetration through walls, while 2.4GHz has longer range.
Client device capability: Check if your devices support WiFi 6. If you have many older devices, the newer device will still help the overall network, but the maximum potential may not be realized.
Router settings & features: Make sure the device firmware is updated, channel width, band-steering, etc are optimised. Also avoid setting unrealistic expectations — multiple factors influence actual throughput. For example, analysis noted that even with AX1500 hardware, real world speeds were limited by channel width or interference.
